NWSC waterway CLOSED until further notice

Published Tue 18 Feb 2025

Unfortunately due to the warmer weather and lack of rain, the Blue Green Algae bloom has now reached toxic levels and Parks Victoria have advised us that the NSWC waterway is closed until further notice. This includes use of the waterway for all powered and non-powered vessels, including model yachts, fishing and any other activity whereby contact with the water could occur.

Signs have been installed to alert potential users of the waterway closure. Access to the car park and surrounding grounds remains open for other non-water related activities.

The CRC clubhouse is open for gym/ergo use for members.

Our Learn to Row programs have been suspended until further notice. Recreation athletes are welcome to join indoor land based sessions with our competitive members.

Direct contact with blue-green algae can cause allergic reactions such as skin rashes or itchiness; sore eyes ears and nose (or if swallowed gastroenteritis, nausea or vomiting).

Parks Victoria will enforce the river closure and no rowing is permitted until further notice. Best case scenario is a reopening early March. Let’s all pray for rain!
