Insane winds at Ballarat? Let's send our Juniors!

Published Sat 05 Nov 2016

In an attempt to copy the insanely windy conditions at the Rio Olympics, Nestles and Hamilton RC moved their regatta to Lake Wendouree, providing our rowers with a BIG challenge!

Our junior members (with a few ring-ins) took on the infamous Ballarat course in what seasoned rower Mary said "was probably the most challenging conditions I have rowed in". All the juniors came away certainly more experienced and appreciative of the skills required to cope with these conditions.

Congratulations to Tim (Mens Under 15 single), Adrian (Men's D single), and Mario (Men's Masters single) on their wins today! We also had some close second placings in the mixed quad, women's D double and women's masters single.

All our rowers came away feeling more confident but grateful that we survived some very tough conditions . A big thank you to Nestles Rowing Club and Hamilton Rowing Club for putting on such a great event, and as always thank you to Rowing Victoria. We would like to also thank all the friends and family who made the trip to Ballarat to support our crews and work in the BRO role for CRC. Great work team!
