Carrum Rowing Club thanks all the clubs and schools that supported our regatta at Nagambie on the 2nd December. On the entries submitted, this looked like it was going to be a great success.
Unfortunately, the weather conspired against us.
Rowing Victoria made the correct call in cancelling the regatta in a timely manner so as to cause the least amount of work and disruption to all the competing rowers. RV did not make this decision lightly, but on the advice of Life Saving Victoria, and the State Government.
Contact was made with Strathbogie Shire on Saturday morning. On Friday the regatta centre had 5 inches of rain with another 5 inches expected. Strathbogie Shire closed the lake on Saturday due to high winds.
It was thought that the regatta may be rescheduled to the following Saturday, but this was not viable due to many factors.
Carrum Rowing Club will look forward to the Masters Regatta at Carrum in May.
And with your support, to a successful Carrum Regatta at Nagambie next year.
Once again, many thanks for your support.
Some good news came out of the stormy weather with Carrum RC President Angelique Everett giving birth to a baby girl at 2:30am on the day of the cancelled regatta!
