One of the great parts of rowing life is bonding over the campfire at country regattas and a small contingent from Carrum headed to one of our favorites, the Dimboola Regatta. After braving the stormy night in our tents all set up at the caravan park next door, we prepared to take on the 750m course in probably the strongest head-winds we've ever experienced! Thankfully the skilled umpires and officials managed to keep the boats under control in the wind and we saw some exciting racing as a result.
Winners included the women's D quad (Fiona, Jess, Mishelle, Erin coxed by Angelique), women's masters four (Fiona, Jess, Mishelle, Angelique coxed by Erin), women's D double (Jess and Erin), Midex double (Geoff and Angelique) and mixed quad (Geoff, Mishelle, Lachie, Angelique coxed by Erin).
Special mentions go to Lachlan S winning his first ever event and Fiona placing second in her first singles race in what was the gutsiest row of the day-facing wind gusts of 65kmh!
