Carrum Rowing Club has been involved in extensive consultations with Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) in the development of the Patterson River Concept Plan to transform this wonderful river precinct.

Today we were joined at the NWSC by Premier Daniel Andrews, Minister for Environment Lily D'Ambrosio MP, Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny, Member for Mordialloc Tim Richardson, and other NWSC users for this exciting announcement. Media release below:

MULTI MILLION DOLLAR BOOST TO PATTERSON RIVER PRECINCT

The Andrews Labor Government is improving access to the National Water Sports Centre in Bangholme near Carrum Downs as part of upgrades to the precinct that will boost visitation and create jobs.

Premier Daniel Andrews joined Minister for Environment Lily D’Ambrosio, Member for Mordialloc Tim Richardson and Member for Carrum Sonya Kilkenny at Melbourne Cable Park today to announce $3 million to support a number of key priorities identified in the Patterson River Concept Plan.

Priorities identified include sealing the access road, improving the Carrum Lilydale Bike Trail, creating a new walking track under the Mornington Peninsula Freeway and building a new recreational building.

The scope of works may include removing old buildings and infrastructure, creating new pathways, and better security lighting and signage – transforming the precinct around the Sports Centre forever.

Extensive community consultation was undertaken, with more than 900 locals responding to a survey asking them how they would like to see the area developed.

The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning is currently going through this feedback to help create a Draft Plan for developing the area.

Communities across the City of Kingston and City of Greater Dandenong – as well as all clubs, groups and users of the river – will be engaged to learn more about how the area can be improved.
